Taking cues from pop, experimentalism, & minimalism TAPE has become recognized internationally for it's "luminarium of sound where past & present merge at the speed of light." Released on CD by Hapna in 2008, Immune is proud to release "Luminarium" on vinyl for the first time.
"2 psyched-out sides from the collaboration between mighty Aliens and Norways own answer to Hall & Oates - Bjerga/Iversen. These sides are boiled down from about 2+ hours worth of material recorded last summer in the stunning alpine village of Luserna San Giovanni, just outside of Torino, Italy.Space electronics, weightless freestyle strings, buzzing voices from the outer heliospheres and garbled and warped messages from the great beyond handed down on recycled trashcan tapes.... celestial harmo…
Originally issued in a limited pressing in 2008, BEACH HEAD is a release of sunburnt affection for a place that has since submerged: a coastal constellation of friends and energies that still slosh and burn through dimensions just above our perceptual apparatus. These are the coordinates, should you want to go: THOUGHTS ARE BELLS opens in séance before easing back into full Florian blossom. HORSE STEPPIN’ is a love song to Neil Young’s six-string gateway: sunblushed and indulgent, persistently b…
long deleted, very few availabe...Many if not most of Derek Bailey's fans (I was going to write "hardcore fans," but aren't we all?) will be surprised at the existence of these extremely early solo recordings, originally issued by Incus back in 1973. Even for a label as unorthodox as Incus, the TAPS represented a unique but very short-lived experiment in "marketing"; basically, Derek decided that it would be interesting, cheaper, and "less formal" to issue some of his favorite recent solo improv…
RESTOCKED: I wrote these tunes in 1968 when Micheal Cosmic and i were students at the AACM School of Music. i revised Love life & games in 2008. i had a band going on then with Micheal Cosmic. we played students concerts with Roscoe Mitchell. he also taught us our reeds. i had music theory with Anthony Braxton and Richard Muhal Abrams..." Considered by the Chicago Reader to be "one of the most gifted and innovative guitarists of the decade", Rafael Toral has been developing in the last 15 years a unique sound world, having been as influenced by Alvin Lucier and Brian Eno as by Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. Using the guitar as part of a complex electronic instrument, Toral has collaborated with Jim O'Rourke, John Zorn, Sonic Youth, Rhys Chatham and Phill Niblock and played in many European countries and in several states in…
first-time ever legit ri for this lost gem from the late '60s euro psychedelic underground. belgium-based portuguese soul brothers tony & waldo lam (better know as jess & james) join forces which american jazz man scott bradford and belgian mad scientist & electronics grand daddy Arsene Souffriau for a crazy trip of groovy free-rock and soul into electronics trip in the best pierre henry's 'jerks electroniques pour la messe du temps present,' cecil leuter's 'pop electronique,' jp massiera's male…
Type follow up Mike Shiflet's Sufferers with a further exposition of his individual and far-reaching sound palette. A member of C Spencer Yeh's revolving Burning Star Core unit, and a prolific collaborator with the likes of Daniel Menche, Chris Corsano, Pete Swanson and many others, Shiflet has honed an intensely visceral feel for tone and texture which makes his records so intriguing to lovers of experimental composition and music-making. With some production/audio mastering assists from fe…
"exactly 40 years after their debut, faust have come up with another archetypical album: inspiring, innovative, unpredictable, crossing boundaries, anarchic - faustian! with "something dirty" jean-hervé peron, zappi w. diermaier (both founding members), james johnston (gallon drunk, nick cave & the bad seeds), and geraldine swayne (...bender) created a definitive milestone in the longfamous musical institution from hamburg." Perispirit is the collaborative project of Ricardo Donoso and Luke Moldof, here delivering their debut album proper after a number of cassette editions for Prurient's Hospital Productions and Ricardo's own Semata imprint. The sound they make is brilliantly impossible to categorise, bringing together analogue and digital electronic sound sources to create a freakish organism that reminds you of anything from Keith Fullerton Whitman to Prurient to Autechre to purist musique concrète without…
Two years after releasing SRS' 'Heaven 39' 2LP, Diophantine Discs is happy to release a record of new recordings by Sshe Retina Stimulants! Following in a vein similar to his other recent recordings this year, we are presented with four tracks of very abstract and experimental noise music. Using a variety of treated and processed instruments and electronics, this is surely one of the most complex, intense, and dynamic works by SRS. Sshe Retina Stimulants, the project of P.NG5361.B (Paolo Bandera…
In few years of work Fabio Orsi has achieved critique and fans, imposing his name as one of the most important and representative of the whole international experimental and electronic independent scene. Backwards proudly presents his new work titled Von Zeit Zu Zeit. This composition was recorded live in Berlin (2010) and after edited and mastered by Fabio Orsi in late 2011. Orsi plays synth, guitar and filters and, for once, he just puts aside the warmth of the melodies and the sampli…
"tuota tuota is the third full-length album by kiila. its songs were born of peaceful, focused work and intense rehearsals with friends, interspersed with sleep and mealtimes. the album features an eight-strong core line-up but, as always, the composition of the group varies effortlessly according to need. at this table, there is room for everyone. as musical form, songs have always been important to kiila, and consequently tuota tuota develops around its songs. on the other hand, the album cons…
Germany's answer to Daphne Oram or Raymond Scott - or more likely an elaborate wind-up perpetrated by Jan Jelinek, on whose Faitiche label her "archive" recordings sporadically appear - Ursula Bogner is back. Whether or not it's Jelinek behind the Bogner corpus (and I think by now we know the answer to that), there's no disputing the consistently brittle beauty, dizzying complexity and easy charm of her radiophonic constructions. You certainly get a lot of Bogner for your buck on Sonne = …
Richard Skelton’s work as A Broken Consort is, ostensibly, consistently and easily contextualized within a broader composer-centric scene. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, for example, deal in similar realms of psychogeographics with their soundtrack work on The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and the like. There, the compositions render emotions on the physical plane. Landscapes and troubled faces don’t just feel alienated or manic or soul-crushingly vast. They look it.…
Restocked, few copies left: the privately pressed Cairo Free Jazz Ensemble 1st album had always been considered as a kind of legendary album, difficult to find (Hartmut confirmed to me that it was pressed in Egypt in only 200 copies)... here are available for the 1st time ever the sole other recordings left of this mythical Ensemble ! it all started with Salah Ragab & the Cairo Jazz Band playing jazz standards and new compositions in the end of the 60's... then, with the arrival of Hartmut, they…
lucky warehouse find, few copies available of this long out of print lp "For many, this is the definitive Lightning Bolt album. It's certainly an accessible release given some of the mayhem that came earlier in their back catalogue, yet somehow, despite sounding more tightly organised, and being structured around more conventional song frameworks the album manages to be heavier, focusing on riffs and dare I say it, actual hooks. Illustrative of that point, apparently Muse have been known to…
Leon Dufficy is primarily known as guitarist in the hippie-jam outfit, Hush Arbors, but now he steps into his own as the driving force behind Winter Drones. Sounding like the perfect combination of fuzzed-out ambient drift, shoegaze swirl and propulsive pop sensibilities, Winter Drones have slowly gained attention in their native U.K. with a handful of obscure CD-R/cassette releases and compilation appearances. Earlier this year, the band's debut album, Blood In The Coffin, came out as a …
restocked: "the hardest thing in the world is to have an original idea. As much as creative musicians hate to admit, free improv/experimental/underground (and all other useless adjectival identifiers) music now has as many stylistic tropes as your standard 19th century symphony: the endless variations on white noise, the orgiastic free ensemble climaxes, reassuring bass drones, "brutality", all of which point to performance, not playing. Musicians cling to the next solution that the med…
Sympathy Nervous is the project of Japanese artist Yosihumi Niinuma. Influenced by both classical and Krautrock, he began recording in 1979, and released several records on the highly coveted Vanity label. He continued to record and self-release much of his work throughout the 80s and 90s. His sound is intelligent and probably the most unique minimal synth to come out of Japan. Exploring dystopian themes, his music is well balanced and beautifully recorded.Automaticism features songs Yosihumi Ni…
