"Sound non sound" is a 15 minutes long session of samples, toy beats and synthetic waves that travels back in time to investigate some of the unexplainable mysteries of the recent Italian past, made of disappearing aeroplanes and exploding train stations by the hand of no one.A deeply describing music that manages to stimulate undefined images and shapes to the mind of the listener.

A simple synthetic-based, sine wave-generating freeware program was used as a sound source for creating single pulses and long static tones in several different tonal pitches. No additional sound design or other analog or digital processing was used during the creation of the sounds. The single sound elements were layered and sequenced into different movements of varying shapes and colors, focusing on the pure essence and aesthetics of sound. Each track interweaves longer, stretched, tonal…
The works included in 'hiSS [Synesthesia Sampler] vol.1' have been produced using only analogue devices and processing tools - such as no input mixers, analogue synthesizers and custom-built or hacked/reconfigured instruments. Without the use of computers or digital devices, the 4 pieces recall an era from the 1950s-70s, when most of the electronic music makers around the world had limited resources and quite primitive equipment.
New Tape - Montoyan Artesian Connection - Montoyan Artesian Connection - This is a tough one to write-up. Montoyan Artesian Connection is the solo 4-track home recording project of one of the key update writers here at Permanent, which makes writing a completely unbiased review virtually impossible, so we ll try to stick to the facts and leave the hyperbole out, for the most part. That said, what we have here is a tape of 10 Chrome, Les Rallizes Denudes, DAF, and Hawkwind influenced jams (we re …
On this cassette are two days of ambient sound recordings, each originally about twenty-four hours long and sped up to play back at about 128 times the original speed. The recordings were made in my studio, which is located in West Baltimore City. I was interested in hearing what was too low and slow for me to normally hear, or to imagine how I would hear things if I were an insect. Since sound can give an indication of length (sound travels approximately 1 foot per millisecond), my h…
Palm Wine is a blog run by Simone Bertuzzi started at the end of 2009. It is described as "a possible and distant look at the post-global movement of sounds and imageries, even dazed by alcohol vapours. For this reason, it can take unexpected routes backward and forward, travels in the outer space and depicts a magic conception of distance between past, present and the next world." "Dreamachine / Beyond Digital Mix" is a C60 tape released by Palm Wine after a trip to Morocco attending a…

In the winter of 2008 C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core) and Jon Wesseltoft (Tongues of Mount Meru, Maranata) would meet in Wesseltoft's native Norway to record the tracks, which comprise this tape. With Yeh on violin and Wesseltoft on harmonium the duo blazes through the northern sky unleashing a meditative eulogy to the Nordic gods of past, present and future. The reeds maintain the momentum while the strings wail in unison. Fans of Tony Conrad and Henry Flynt take note. Artwork by L…
Tape loops, concrete parts, harsh noise .. if the elements of this release have been widely developed in a myriad of outputs, what makes this one unique is the way in which these elements are used to tell a story, the project of Francesco Tignola (joy de vivre, drug age) has in fact a unique approach and is highly cinematic in assembling and relating these elements.Born and raised in Naples the project finds its reason to be in the place where it is located, a chaotic city, with strong con…
Lux Ova" is a compilation of Hitoshi Kojo's recordings from the middle 90's, before he started releasing the work as Spiracle. Under Spiracle name, he has released long durational drone recordings that were often compared to the works of Organum, La Monte Young, or Iancu Dumitrescu. Through ten years, the style crystalized to more minimal and subtle direction, as it appears in Ananta (from Heren Scarsdale Agency) and the last release Evestrum (from Drone Records). This compilation already shows t…

restocked: Analogue synth and field recordings, re-played through CDJs. Starting out as an improvising guitarist in the late 1980s, Giuseppe Ielasi's current work is mainly studio-based compositions utilising records and CDs, and creating pieces for theatre and film. His solo shows, which take the form of multichannel diffusion and recomposition of pre-existing pieces and fragments, create complex site specific audio works. He also plays in Bellows (with Nicola Ratti) and Oreledigneur (wi…

'Fart Synthesis' is the 8th episode in EVOL's ongoing Punani series, and was edited from live recordings in Osaka, Kiev and Toulouse between 2008 and 2009. All sounds were synthesized on the fly on various computers. The final tracks were assembled in Barcelona in the spring of 2009 using generative algorithms to splice and rearrange a large amount of sound files. The title of this cassette comes from a series of chats and discussions on digital synthesis techniques by Rubén Patiño (aka Pato) and…
Massive double album from C. Spencer Yeh of Burning Star Core that mops up two years’ (2007-2008) worth of vocal experiments, running from acoustic throat-splurges and hysterical ticker-tape tirades through the sound of breath caressing microphones and physically impossible computer edited body extensions. The whole deal comes with liner notes from Yeh documenting the various strategies and set-ups, connecting sound poetry and 20th century avant garde techniques with current psych/noise practice…
Limited to just 500 copies and already sold out at source, this latest edition from the Tapeworm cassette label is likely to be the most feverishly sought after to date. One of experimental electronic music's biggest names, Christian Fennesz has collected his library of samples (dating between 1989 and 1996) made for his old Ensoniq EPS-16 Plus and ASR-10 samplers. It probably goes without saying, but this is an amazing hour or so of music to trawl through. Any long-term fans of Fennesz's music …
